12. Peculiarities of work with child-parent relations during the war
On February 24, 2022, each of us grew up in the blink of an eye. However, childhood should remain childhood, no matter what conditions it takes place.
During the war, children experience no less diverse and ambivalent feelings than adults, and sometimes experience the war more acutely and hard.
You should not have the illusion that you can save the child from experiences and that the situation will not affect his psyche. Children need help! First of all, from the parents.
In what and how this help can be carried out in the conditions of a destroyed background, isolation from the usual life (sometimes even the language environment), anxieties and impotence of adults, we will touch on in the lecture.
And let the metaphor of the peculiarities of the relationship between children and parents and the “algorithm” of help in a traumatic critical situation of war not seem strange: “first put an oxygen mask on yourself, then on your child”!...
