Trainee

(An intern in the external classification is called a Program Assistant)

Internship is possible in the Programs of MIGIS Institute.

 A trainee is a person who participates in the Program as a learning specialist for the purpose of professional development.

 Traineeship is possible with a trainer of higher qualification only in the absence of individual therapy with him/her at the time of the beginning of such traineeship.

 The trainee can only be a MIGIS student from the Gestalt Therapist Training Program, who is practicing individual therapy (who has at least 5-6 clients).

 It is recommended to do the internship with your Gestalt Therapist Training Program supervisor, because during the internship the student must overcome the hierarchical tension with his/her teacher, accepting him/her, himself/herself, and then, separating himself/herself, move on.

 Depending on the level of training, experience and qualifications of the Gestalt therapist, two forms of internship are possible:

The program director leads the program workshops together with the intern (at least 30% of the number of workshops).

The program director invites other presenters of individual seminars at his/her discretion, or allows the program trainee to lead some seminars on his/her own.

The Stage I Program is conducted with remote supervision by the Program Manager, the Stage II Program - with face-to-face supervision.

A Level I internship that does not involve the Program Director as a seminar leader does not remove the responsibilities and tasks of the Program Director. This form of Step I internship is only available to interns who are certified as a group therapist and certified for Step III.

Exception: A trainee with a Level II certificate, who is enrolled in Level III not earlier than the second year of the program, may submit his/her candidacy to the MIGIS Director for consideration to coordinate the completion of the Level I internship in the form of remote supervision of the Level I program by the Program Manager (with the name of this manager).

In the course of the internship, the intern:

Develops stability of the therapeutic position of the group therapist, acquires skills to connect the therapeutic and teaching contexts.
Learns to cope with all difficult group situations (non-arrival of participants, late arrival of a part of the group, etc.).
Gains practical knowledge and skills in running the Program.
Gains experience in long-term co-therapy.
Understands his/her role in the group and the role of the group.
Learns to live through the complexities and find opportunities for the therapist's work at different stages of the group's development.
Gains knowledge of what skills and abilities need to be developed in Step I, II students.
Gains insight into the formation of learning structure.
Survives hierarchical conflict, gains recognition of his/her supervisor. Forms his/her own identity as a Gestalt therapy teacher, living narcissistic devaluation, etc.
